Renewing your passport is not as difficult as trying to obtain your first one, however it does still have to do with paperwork and being patient. The authorization office must commend the renewal of your passport with just as many methods used to grant your original passport submission.

Obtain a downloadable DS-82 form for renewing your passport, it is accessible for the U.S. state department website which is the passport renewal form. Be sure to sign it and date it. Fill out the form properly, don’t over-look important information, especially if it’s pertaining to you. Since it is time consuming, inappropriately filling out the form will only delay the process.
Have at least 2 passport photos taken, this can be done at a pharmacy, mall or at any photographer. Mail your form along with the two images along with the $75 fee; be sure it is made out to the proper address. Additionally send a qualified copy of all documentations showing proof of name change if it is necessary for renewing your passport.

It would be very wise to mail this information inside of a padded envelope, make sure it has considerable enough space so you wouldn’t have to fold the application. This will keep the documents the safe and secure. Select a mailing option that allows for tracking of packages, if you want it done quickly you may opt to pay to have it expedited. Be sure to mark the outside of the package expedited and use an expedited delivery service. Checking the status of your application is easy, you can check it online by visiting USPassportNow by entering your birth date, name and the last four numbers of your social security number. You may need to want to consider obtaining a wallet-size Passport since it no larger than a driver’s license and less expensive than a passport book.

If I am traveling and have to deal with the unfortunate situation of: I lost my passport; the first thing that I have to do is to remain calm and then search very well in my belongings, because many times after making all the process to replace it, I then can realize that it was at the bottom of my suitcase, all this time, and this it is not only embarrassing for myself but it is a waste of time for the people working at the embassy and a waste of money for me because the fees for doing it are non-refundable.

So, when I am absolutely sure that I indeed lost my passport, then it’s time for me to call or approach my closest embassy or consulate in the country I am in. In my hotel I can have the information of them so I can go or phone. So if you are in the same situation as me don’t be scared if your embassy is too far from the city that you are in, you will be send to a consulate, which have almost the same functions as an embassy, the only real difference is that the last one is in the capital city of the country and the consulate is in an other city. There are many US consulates, specially if you are traveling in Europe, Asia or in some countries in Latin America such as Mexico, Argentina, Chile, etc.

If I lost my passport in some conflict country, then I have to call the authorities immediately or even maybe call home, I can get in a very difficult situation if I don’t say anything and then get caught, I could be in prison and also be deported.

The replacement time when I lost my passport was 3 days and it is a simple but a tiring process, but it is the only way. So remember to always be aware of your things, so you don’t have to pass to all of this.

One of the most important documents issued today by any world government is a passport. Passports are issued to the international traveler so that his country of origin may be determined. The criteria of identification are the travelers’ full name. It also states his or her correct date of birth, as supported by an official birth certificate. States the sex of the person holding the passport, and gives his or her place of birth in the country of origin. A passport is for identity purposes only and does not give the international traveler automatic rights to enter any other foreign country. This is why visas are issued. A passport however does give the holder rights to return to his or her passport issuing country. A passport also does not give the holder automatic rights to Consular protection in a foreign country
Travelers must always first and foremost obey the laws of the country they are visiting. Passports usually contain information in at least two languages the first the language of the issuing country the second in English. This is because English is the “lingua franca” of the international community. A passport usually consists of three sections, the first section being information on the issuing country, the second section blank pages for the recording of immigration stamps and visas, the third section important information on the holder including an up to date photograph. Modern passports may also contain a readable biometric chip that also contains information on the holder. Modern passports are very hard but not impossible to forge.
If you should ever lose your passport or have it stolen from you then most countries require you to firstly make an official police report and secondly report to your local consulate or embassy with the police report. Depending on the country only consulates and embassies can issue new passports and often in the case of a lost and stolen passports will only issue you with a temporary “return to country of origin” travel document. This document is not a passport as such and will be surrendered on returning to the issuing country A passport for an international traveler is an important document and care of the passport should be taken at all times.
